5G technology is a hot topic sweeping the internet right now. The trending rumors and conspiracy theories are causing widespread controversy. It is so popular that my friends and I discuss this on our coffee chat. Truthfully, I welcome the change of subject because I need to put COVID-19 down for a bit. So what is all the fuss about? Does 5G pose a real threat?
While I’ve been home, I’ve been focusing my attention on learning more about Big Data and IoT and 5G. These are already instrumental in our everyday life. But I believe technological advances will play an even bigger role in our new normal. Therefore, I am taking a closer look at the arguments and claims against 5G.
With the dawn of the SMART era, we are seeing companies running to create a fusion between AI technology and domestic comforts. We have smartphones, smart cars, smart TVs, smart homes, and smart kitchen and household appliances. All of these devices are constantly sending and receiving information.
5G is stepping in to handle all of the data traffic. It is setting itself to be the next industrial revolution. Creating support for all things SMART. And with that gauntlet thrown, there are those who will inevitably challenge it. The claims vary from us being test subjects or even accusing 5G as a contributor to the COVID-19 pandemic. Are these claims true?
In fairness, I don’t have the answers to a lot of the questions being brought up. But I do find that some of these questions are based on fear of the unknown, what-ifs, and feelings rather than facts. So I will not attempt to answer any of them. Instead, I will leave that to the experts.
However, I have a few questions of my own. Do you think we can continue advancing in this era of SMART while maintaining an old infrastructure? Would we be satisfied with things as they are without adding one more device onto the internet? Are there any other solutions out that offer the same possibilities as 5G?
Despite all of the questions that may pose or that are out there we need to remember one thing. 5G is here to stay. We can’t go back now. So it is up to you to see it as a friend or foe. And if you have concerns, I encourage you to read both the pros and cons As for me, I will continue learning more about it.
If I learn anything new, I promise I will be sure to post and share it with you.
